Pastel Perfect

Shirt: Ann Taylor Loft, Pants: Delia's
Today I went back to the city to go to a FREE Ed Sheeran and Sara Bareilles concert. It was forecasted to be 60 and cloudy, but lets just say the weather channel lied. It was cold and rainy. So there goes my white shoes. Also, turns out Ed Sheeran's flight was way delayed so he didn't go on until way later than I could afford to stay. What I would have done to see that fabulous singer perform.. But Sara Bareilles was heaven. Her album. On repeat.
What were we talking about again? My clothes? Yeah, okay. I decided to play with some color and do an oversized long sleeve. My sister decided to join the fun and wear her pastel pink pants with a cute fitted top as well. Twinsies.  I threw on a jean jacket due to the wind but I felt comfy, cute, and  pastel perfect all day!

Picture This

Just like Jenn said, there are so many things I've done this summer before I entered into the craziest couple of weeks as of last Monday. There are only two words that can bring down any high-schooler/college-student: summer school. Sitting in class for four hours, watching the sun say, "Hey Camille, don't you wanna be outside? Sucks for you!" There are so many things that I would love to do, but unfortunately being able to apply to the business school next semester means making absolutely, positively sure that I will have enough credits to do so.
So enough with the depressing school stuff. At the beginning of the summer, I decided to take on a little project if you will. Some may think it's crazy, but I dedicated myself to take a picture every single day of summer. It didn't have to be anything special, just something to remember the days that are supposed to be filled with dresses and good food. So far, I'm on day 40-something. So here's a little picture scrapbook for you, since that seems to be the theme of this week!

Being at home gives me time to cook, which I absolutely LOVE
I also got to go to my boyfriend's Senior Ball, which made me feel like a princess all over again
I got to hit New York to see my big sister graduate from Cornell
I got to be in Hawaii with my fabulous fam
I got to canoe with some of my absolute best friends and boyfriend

Looking through all these pictures really made me realize how good of a summer I have had already. Here's to more pictures that avoid school and seek out sunshine.

(half) My Summer in Pictures

Lately, I have been so busy that I haven't had any time to step back and think about all the amazing things I've already done this last few weeks. It wasn't until I went through some pictures I have taken the last few weeks that I realized this summer has already been amazing.  Naturally, it seemed like a good idea to post them all on this blog because a)it seemed like a fun post and b)our generation is already attached to social media, so if you can't beat them, join them!
Apparently, this was the very first picture I took after getting home from school! Am I not surprised that it was a selfie with my dog.
Right after I got my bangs cut featuring my adorable and hilarious little sister.
My roommate Tiffany had her going away party a few weeks ago! She left the Bay Area to move to Virginia with her amazing husband. I miss her already!!
My sister and her two best friends had an extra ticket to go to a concert with a our favorite bands and were nice enough to invite me to come with them!  Being a really small person, I'm pretty gifted when it comes to pushing all the way to the front of the crowd. Amanda and I were  to get all the way to the front, and even though I thought I was going to be smothered to death, it was SO worth it.
And the last picture I have chosen to share with you is from my most recent trip to San Francisco with some of my really good friends last Saturday! We got dinner at the pier and had a fantastic time.
Can't wait to share more of my summer adventures with you all!!

Simplicity

Father's Day is totally the day to go out and show off your cute outfit, right? Just kidding. I decided to wear a three quarter length dress as I headed to Carmel Beach for the day. It got me thinking that even throwing on a simple dress makes for a cute outfit with no hassle. I can dress it down with my jean jacket or up with wedges and a blazer. But for now, simple and casual it is!

Goodbye Sand, Hello More Travelling

In honor of my afternoon flight home, you get to live vicariously through me one more time as I tell you how I lived in paradise for the past week. Instead of telling you where to go and what food to eat, I think all you need to do is see my past week in pictures.  And instead of being your personal tour guide, I'll just leave you with this. When you're on vacation, avoid the fights with the parents. Sink your feet in the sand. Don't worry about getting your hair wet or bathing suit sandy. Soak up the sun and get one of those awful tan lines because your bathing suit was not tanning material. Enjoy life, take that attitude, and bring it home with you, wherever you may be.
I would tell you life is good in Hawaiian, but in order to avoid butchering the phrase, Life Is Good, folks.

Brighter Than The Sun

ALOHA! Seeing as I've spent the past week in Hawaii, and still have another week to go, I thought my outfit of the week would just have to be Hawaiian. If there's one  thing I've learned about Hawaii, it's that there is absolutely no use for a straightener or curler. The humidity will get the best of even your greatest hair days. Even gel doesn't work. So the side braid it is! Dressing up any outfit here would be too much since Hawaii means relaxation, so the only accessory I have is my pass to the pool! Bright colors, a flowy high to low skirt, and nude sandals to balance out all the color made me into quite the Hawaiian girl, don't you think? And of course, a fresh flower to add the final touch. If it wasn't for my love of curly, non -frizzy hair, I would stay here forever!

When in Paradise...

For the past week, I've been soaking up the sun in one of the most appropriate places ever. The sun is always shining, the beaches are blue as can be, and the food is out of this world. That's right, I'm in Maui, Hawaii. I constantly get to smell like flowers and wear floral patterns. It's just the greatest.
I was talking to my best friend the other day and came to the conclusion that if you mix the quote, "If you want to be happy, be" with the quote "location, location, location" it would pretty much define Hawaii. Since I'm far from a travel expert, although I have been on a plane at least 6 times in the past month and a half, I'm still going to let you in on some little secrets. As of now, these are the highlights of my trip.
On the second day of our trip, we traveled to Ka'anapali Beach, voted America's Best Beach. And I couldn't agree more. It's one of those places where the water is practically calling your name. You don't care that the undertow is incredibly strong or that sand is piling up in your bathing suit. And despite everything, it's not even that crowded. Trust me, if you ever go to Maui, visit this beach again or for the first time. Appreciate it's beauty(I would give it a good two minutes at most). And then dive in the water like it was a huge vat of chocolate.
Above left and right pictures from Ka'anapali Beach
You didn't think I would miss out on the food, did you?! Right before we visited the beach, we decided to eat at a restaurant that overlooked it. It was called the Hula Grill, complete with live music and tables in the sand. It made for the perfect place to take my shoes off(because the tables are actually in the sand), sit back, and stuff my face with a pulled pork sandwich, and nibbles of my sister's Kalua pork and pineapple pizza.
The night before, we got all dressed up, stuck flowers in our hair and went to Roy's Hawaiian Fusion restaurant. This place had the most amazing seafood imaginable. And me? I hate fish. This place was ranked #1 in my book. I ordered from the kid's menu. That's right, they let me. And I felt like a four-year old eating at the big kid's table. First course: cheese quesadillas. Second course: vegetables with ranch and apples. Third course: salmon, rice, vegetables. Fourth course: ice cream sandwich. And it was cheap, too! Order off the kid's menu, guys.
 Hey look, a Hawaiian flower!

And finally a little fun fact for y'all. The flowers in your hair? If you're single and ready to mingle, tuck one behind your right ear. And if you're completely against a cute Hawaiian boy giving you a wink, the left side it is.
Aloha for now,

Feeling Inspired

It's no secret I have a serious obsession for Passion Pit. As of lately, all I've been listening to is their newest album on repeat. At the core of my passion (pun intended) is the music video for Carried Away. The song was already one of my favorites by the band, but when they released the video I loved it even more.

But seriously, how does Sophia Bush always look so cute?? Her character's manic pixie dream girl wardrobe haunts me every morning when I attempt to throw something cute on. I can never seem to come close to her level of adorableness when mimicking her outfits in this video. Now I can't stop looking for vintage floral sun dresses and plaid skirts in the hopes that I can even have an essence of Sophia.

Thanks to stylist Leila Baboi, we are able to drool over Sophia's 20 different outfit changes through the video. Baboi used clothes from Paul& Joe, Reformation, and vintage pieces from Golyester, What Goes Around Comes Around, Decades, and Resurrection. If only I had half the money to buy a single item from any of those stores... Until then, I'll be digging around Forever 21 and Cotton On in a desperate frenzy to find anything

Gimme Some Teal Lovin'

Skirt: Ann Taylor Loft, Shirt: Forever 21, Shoes: H&M, Belt: Francesca's Collections
This week definitely felt like a week to get dressed up, so it was absolutely perfect for me to bring out some color. I wish everything was made in teal. It’s the absolute greatest color. I couldn’t help but add a teal-ish bracelet and belt to my outfit. And of course, the skirt is floral and lace, along with the bandeau. You can never have enough!

Comfort Doesn't Mean Sacrificing Style

Top: Forever 21, Pants: Nordstroms, Shoes: Modcloth

The last few weeks of summer have been absolutely insane. I've been trying to register for classes for both this summer and next year, applying and being interviewed for jobs, getting a much needed hair cut, and trying to see my roommate a few more times before she makes the big move to Virginia next Monday. Due to all this craziness, I've hardly had any time to make myself look presentable lately. However, after having another one of my 1960's model obsessions, I realized that looking casual and comfortable does not mean you have to sacrifice looking cute. Jean Seberg, Edie Sedgwick and Brigitte Bardot (three of my style icons) hardly ever put much effort into their clothing choices but always seemed to look fabulous. This being said, I found it in me to put on simple black skinny jeans with an over-sized tee and was still able to have a presentable outfit.

Love, Poppy
